Happiness

A human emotion which can have different meanings to different people.  The opposite of sorrow. Most of us have experienced it. A lot of things can cause it. Whats it to you?

A young monk gives his full concentration to light some incense. Incense is used for many purposes such as meditation, devotion, healing and purification. It is a deeply rooted component in Bhutanese culture. This picture was captured at a sacred buddhist temple.

Here I capture a man wearing robes which somewhat resembles a kimono called the Gho. This is the traditional attire for men and women wear the Kira which is a long ankle length dress. Everything about Bhutan fascinated me and it is a place I would definitely love to visit again. We have much to learn from how the people of Bhutan live a simple yet happy life. It made me realise happiness doesn’t come from materialistic things which was something I had only read before.

Bhutan, the land of happiness

So recently I had the amazing opportunity to visit Bhutan an awe-inspiring country which taught me a lot of things and changed my perspective on life. I had the chance to capture many amazing images which I will be posting soon. Here are two for now!

DSC_0232 1There are many monasteries in Bhutan. The monks join in at a very early age, and undergo rigorous training.  Here I managed to capture two of them, sharing a light hearted moment. I wondered what they were speaking about.

Happiness without dogs and puppies? I think not. The street dogs of Bhutan are extremely cute and friendly too just like their people. The have longer coats and are very furry creatures indeed compared to the street dogs of India, as an adaptation to the cold mountain weather.

Many more pictures are coming soon. Apologies for the small gap in posting. 🙂

Go explore

Recently I came across a new place. I headed out with only the assurance of having a full fuel tank. The roads twisted and turned and I had no idea what it would lead me too. The whole ride here was very picturesque too. I passed open lands all away from the city noises. It was as quiet as quiet can be .

Enjoying the moment after climbing a wall

On my way back a stop at a bakery was necessary. It was in this moment I realised Coca-cola truly tastes better in glass bottles. Old school all the way!

A little bit of sweetness, a little bit of spice

If you pile up the Jalebis, you will attract flies.

[They sure were delicious though. Thank god for immunity!]

I love how this woman who was selling them, had it all ; from sweet to savoury. And the answer to all life’s problems is hot Samosas and Chai. They won’t make your problems go away, but they sure will help you think better! 🙂

City life

On some days you just won’t get any pictures no matter how much you try. Yesterday was one such day and the rains lashed down unforgivingly. I had to wait a long while and I was losing sunlight by the minute. I had a place in mind to go to but couldn’t reach it,  because of the rain. I didn’t want to throw the towel in and go home unsatisfied. So when  it stopped raining I made my way out again, determined to get at least a few pictures.

Here is what I captured. There’s beauty in the city lights. Vibrant, alive, and yet something impersonal, cold, almost cruel. No one cares. Each one has their destination to get to. The city never stops.

I loved this capture. Amidst all the din, rush and  traffic, and the madness of the city, this couple had found their little oasis. I also like how I managed to get the other couple, too in the background. Life in a Metro, anyone?

Where eagles dare

While watching  the sunset, this big guy kept me company and hovered around for quite a while in his attempt to find his last catch of the day.

Here’s another shot. Eagles are such majestic creatures.
